Recently, at the Olive Convention Centre in Durban, the KZN Legislature hosted over 600 young women from around the province for a dialogue on women abuse and challenges they face.

Among the attendees were group leaders for sex workers, LGBTI and others.

The Legislature's Speaker, Nontobeko Boyce says the women say men are the problem and that special focus should be on teaching young men to protect women.

"There is a realisation that the more we talk to women, we are still getting killed because women do not kill themselves or rape themselves in most instances."

"So lets rather have a more inclusive discussion in society, so that we are able to find out what makes the boy child grow up to be a violent man. While he was growing up, he was a peaceful child, so to say. But what other roles can they play in assuring that we bring an end to this," she said.
