Little Sibusisiwe Bhengu was born in the back of his dad's bakkie.

Netcare 911's Shawn Herbst says Sibusisiwe's mum, Nontuthzelo was rushed to St Augustine's Hospital yesterday.

He says she was already in labour and a lot of pain.

"The father himself was not familiar with which entrance to use. He then saw an ambulance and stopped next to the ambulance. The paramedics had heard someone screaming. Upon investigation, they found the patient in he process of delivering her baby."

Herbst says one of the paramedics, Preshan Harrilal, had been reassuring the mother and father - who were starting to panic.

"The paramedics then ran to fetch the medical equipment in preparation for a delivery. After a short period, little Sibusiso Bhengu was welcomed into the world with smiles," Herbst said.
