KZN white shark attack explained
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A shark expert believes it is not uncommon to see a great white shark on the KwaZulu-Natal coast, even though white sharks are normally associated with cooler waters of the Western Cape.

Geremy Cliff has been speaking to Newswatch following this weekend's shark attack at Westbrook Beach, which saw Durbanite Grant Wardell survive being knocked off his surf-ski by the almost 3-metre long shark, while out fishing.
Cliff says the shark is capable of swimming long distances and may just have been curious when it bit into Wardells surf ski.
''I would like to think that the shark was a little bit shocked when it ended up biting into the very hard fibre glass because it obviously bit very hard because it not only knocked him off the ski, but one of the teeth broke off and was found later in the ski.
''I'd like to think that the shark would have then moved on after that,'' he said.
