The officers were picketing in Durban yesterday calling for end to the neighbourhood searches they face when returning home from work during late hour shifts.

The municipality has called on individuals manning the checkpoints to immediately desist.

Officer Zama Msane says they are concerned lives will be lost at the hands of residents who are harassing them.

"We have three members who were shot at these so-called barricades. The first being Nhlanhla Madikizela who was shot with nine live rounds from which he managed to escape", she said.

"A second officer Sanele Mbhele was shot in Chatsworth and thirdly officer Ngcobo who was shot with 97 bullets", Msane said.

"We have had no arrests arrests that have been effected from these incidents. It really worries us", she said.
