KZN tops new Covid-19 cases as third wave continues

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has reported 13 261 new coronavirus cases on Saturday.
A total of 13 261 people contracted the virus in the 24-hour cycle to Saturday.
The increase represents a positivity rate of 20.8% after 63 830 coronavirus tests were conducted.
A total of 2 680 225 infections have been confirmed in South Africa.
A further 268 people succumbed to complications related to Covid-19, bringing the death toll to 79 251.
Most new cases are from KwaZulu-Natal (29%), followed by Western Cape (24%).
There has been 356 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours, bringing the current admissions to 13 642.
