Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
Teachers in KwaZulu Natal are ranked by the SA Council of Educators, among the worst sex offenders in the country.
And teachers' union SADTU in KZN says it's very concerned about a 43% rise in sexual misconduct cases among teachers.
The stats were revealed in the Council's 2019-2020 annual report.
Sexual misconduct and corporal punishment were reported as the most prominent cases.

SADTU's Nomarashiya Caluza says the increase highlights societal and internal problems.
"For us at SADTU, the problem must be dealt with, especially in society.
"But most importantly, is for the education department to work together with us. Even when doing checks on the teachers. Most of them are young and fresh out of college," she added.
