KZN Tazz driver who ran over robber might not be off the hook - police
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KwaZulu-Natal police say a woman who knocked over a thief who had stolen her handbag in the south of Durban, could still be held accountable.
Two men approached Sandy-Lee Ward's car at a mall on the Bluff as she waited for a boom gate to open.
One of them opened the driver's door and, after a scuffle, made off with her bag.
Ward drove through the boom gate and pursued the man who had her handbag, eventually knocking him down.
She said she did not intend to hit him but just wanted to recover her bag, which she says had important documents with sensitive information.
The suspect is still in hospital under police guard.
He appeared in court in absentia on Friday, facing a common robbery charge.
The matter was postponed by a week.
KZN police say if ongoing investigations suggest Ward has a case to answer, due processes will be followed.
