KZN taxis safety under the spotlight in DBN
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Taxi organisation, Santaco says it's dedicated to changing the perception that taxis, especially in Kwazulu-Natal, are linked to many road accidents.
The council is currently holding a workshop in Durban that aims to instil road safety, driver discipline, passenger interaction and roadworthiness among other things.
Forty facilitators from different regions are taking part in the three day workshop which got underway yesterday.
Santaco's KZN Chairperson Boy Zondi says they've already started seeing results from similar programmes.
"The Minister of Transport nationally and the provincial Transport MEC Willies Mchunu have also commented that the number of accidents in taxis have reduced in a huge way.
"We are still saying that as much as we have reduced the number of accidents, it's not enough and we need to reduce more," he said.
