KZN Social Development wants probe into cop amid abuse claims

Officials from the Department of Social Development in KZN are piling pressure on the police to arrest one of their own for the alleged assault of her husband.
MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza says social workers have been dispatched to assist the Durban man, who says he's suffered abuse for years.
The department's spokesperson Mhlabunzima Memela says it's understood he's applied for a protection order against his wife.

"We also understand that they are men who also suffer the same in our communities but are unable to report these cases because they believe that they are going to be regarded as weak men.
"We appreciate that this man has decided to come forward and report this matter.
"Hence it is now getting attention from the Department of Social Development. Social workers will be working with the victim."
