That's according to the National Health Department.

The Department says it's been notified by the NICD- that there's been increased circulation of influenza cases in the country since the beginning of May.

It says Flu clusters have also been reported in schools and workplaces.

The Department's spokesperson, Foster Mohale says the 2023 influenza season started in the last week of April when the detection rate breached the seasonal threshold.

"The increase in case numbers has been identified in six provinces which include KZN, Mpumalanga, Gauteng, Western Cape, Eastern Cape and North West where surveillance is being conducted.

He says the most common symptoms include fever, muscle and body pain, dry cough, sore throat and runny nose and headache.
