Education MEC Mbali Frazer says she's concerned that schools in the province
are becoming soft targets for criminals.

She's been assessing the damage at Tinley Manor Primary in ILembe District this weekend.
Thieves broke into the school twice last week, including on Friday evening, and stole equipment like ink, printers and cash from the school tuck shop.
Police have arrested three people in both incidents.

Frazer has urged communities to protect and safeguard schools in their area.
Meanwhile, SATDU's provincial secretary, Nomarashiya Caluza, says the government does not have a plan to safeguard schools.
"The continuous attack, burglary and break-ins at our schools where you have these criminals preying on resources that are meant for teachers and learners. It is unfortunate that the department has no solution."
