KZN rhino poaching ring leader in court today
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
A man alleged to be a rhino poaching kingpin in KZN is expected to appear at the Ngwelezana Regional Court on the north coast today.
He was arrested during a sting operation in 2014 but his trail has been marred by delays.
Dumisani Gwala bought, on a number of occasions, rhino horns from undercover Pretoria Crime Intelligence officers.

Activist Jamie Joseph from Saving the Wild NGO says political parties and community members will gather in court in a show of support for the war on rhino poaching.
"We talk about rangers as being the front line - rangers are actually the last line of defence. We need to be stopping these poachers before they even come into the reserve. Community members are so powerful and effective that they've shut down national roads. They have held poachers at bay until the anti-poaching teams arrive. The real hero of the story is the value of the community to the anti-poaching strategy and the rangers working together with the community," she said.
