KZN residents urged to vaccinate pets against rabies

KwaZulu-Natal Agriculture MEC Super Zuma has reiterated the call to pet owners to vaccinate their animals against rabies.
He visited the family of a five-year-old Empangeni boy on Tuesday, who succumbed to rabies two weeks ago.
The department facilitated a vaccination drive for dogs and cats in the King Cetshwayo District, where it recorded an increase in the number of confirmed rabies cases.

MEC Zuma says there'll be vaccination campaigns in other hotspots and affected areas, such as the western parts of eThekwini.
"As we have had some reports, we need to work together with our communities.
"We need to vaccinate, that is why we are focusing on these hotspots to encourage our please to vaccinate their dogs and their cats. Once we do that then there will be no problem.”
