KZN residents say struggling to cope with price hikes

KZN residents say consistent fuel, food, and utility price hikes are making it harder to budget and cope with the cost of living.

Petrol prices at the coast went up at midnight by between 58 and 60c a litre. 

 

Eskom also implemented a 12,74% electricity tariff increase.

 

A report a few weeks ago showed that consumer inflation shot up for the second month in a row.

eThekwini's meanwhile also proposed tariff hikes for water, electricity and other municipal services. 

 

One resident told Newswatch they're struggling to make ends meet in these tough times.

 

"I'm concerned about the economic impact of it because they said that the prices were gonna come down, but now, they're going up, which means that the food prices and transport are going up."
