KZN residents in awe of rare ‘circle’ around the sun
Updated | By Nondumiso Dube
An extraordinary rare circle around the sun, with a faint colour to the inside of the ring and wispy white on the outer fringe across KZN's skies, has been described as a once-in-a-blue moon phenomenon.
Since the occurrence on Thursday morning, Newswatch has been inundated with queries and visuals from fascinated and curious locals wanting to know what's happening in our province's skies.
Forecaster with the SA Weather Service Julius Mahlangu has assured KZN residents that it's nothing to worry about.
”It is something that does not happen all too often, it’s something that happens once in a while. It all depends on the type of clouds and the angle at which the sun shines at that time.
“It has to be the sunlight interacting with the cloud for you to be able to see the halo around the sun.”
