The Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal has been given a boost when it comes to fire-fighting capability.

The department has announced that the US-based 911 Emergency Response Fund has donated millions of rands worth of equipment to the province.
The department says the agreement signed between MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube and the fund will ensure KZN's disaster management teams operate more efficiently.
Spokesperson, Mswakhe Mayisela says KZN is one of the top provinces prone to disasters.
"Over R30-million worth of firefighting equipment and training programmes will be channelled to the province of KwaZulu-Natal. It is important that we pull all the stops to ensure that we are more than ready to respond if we are required to," he said.
