KZN preschool driver accused of rape abandons bail

A northern KwaZulu-Natal man arrested in connection with the rape of two young children will be staying behind bars.

The 32-year-old appeared briefly in the Pongola Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

NPA's spokesperson in KZN Natasha Kara says they understand the man had been tasked with transporting the four-year-olds to preschool daily.
"The matter was in court for a bail application; however, the man has abandoned his application for bail. He will thus remain in custody.

"The case has been remanded to 12 June 2023 for further investigations."
