KZN Premier: Beach closures not off the table
KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala says provincial government has not ruled out the closure of beaches this festive season.
Speaking at the launch of Operation Vala in Durban yesterday Zikalala says consultations on the matter are still underway.
He says there are a few things to consider before making a decision.
"We are considering the option of closing beaches at particular times. We might also not close beaches for people who will just be taking walks", he said.
"We are also weighing up imposing stricter measures on certain December public holidays like on the 16th, 25th, 31st or the 1st of January", Zikalala said.
