This comes after a 62-year-old woman was shot and killed in her Umbumbulu home, south of Durban last week.

It’s alleged that two suspects entered the house and demanded she hands over her stokvel money before shooting her multiple times.

KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says investigations into the attack are underway.

"Our investigating team is following several leads. We remain hopeful that those responsible for this gruesome will be caught and brought to justice. Reports indicate that after the murder, suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of stokvel money which was kept in the house.

"We appeal to all residents, especially those who were saving money through stokvels throughout the year, we urge them to use bank transfers to share money or any other safe electronic options."
