Thandeka Masondo says her 58-year-old mother, Dudu, was attacked by 2-men in her home at gunpoint. The suspects first tied up her domestic worker and forced Masondo into her Jeep.

They then took her to a sugar cane field and tied Masondo's hands and feet before abandoning her. Thandeka says her mom managed to roll to a nearby road where she was found by truck drivers.

Police from Jozini, KwaHlabisa, Mbazwane and other surrounding areas managed to recover the vehicle and arrest 1 suspect.

"There is a perception that police are lazy but they have outdone themselves in this case. They did a very good job" she said.

"After three hours we thought the car would not be recovered and that maybe they shot or raped her, so we're relieved as a family", Masondo said.

"She was not harmed apart from minor scratches and bruises", she said.

"She is traumatized so we will arrange a session for her with a psychologist", Masondo said.

Police confirmed the incident adding that both suspects were injured during a shootout- and the one is in hospital under police guard.
