KZN police crack down on cross-border crime

About R3-million worth of counterfeit goods have been seized in the uMkhanyakude District of KZN, in a little over a month.
Police have been hard at work trying to crack down on cross-border crime.

Member of the Provincial Legislature's Community Safety Portfolio Committee, Blessed Gwala, says stolen vehicles have also been taken across the border in the last month-and-a-half.
"There were almost 34 vehicles over the same period that were actually across the border to Mozambique, of which they think those vehicles will never be recovered unless the army and the police in Mozambique will cooperate with them in order to apprehend the suspects, and also to recover the stolen vehicles," he said.
The police's Thulani Zwane says six suspects were arrested today on charges ranging from possession of counterfeit goods, as well stolen vehicles.
He says the suspects will be will be appearing in the Mbazwana Magistrate's Court tomorrow.
