KZN police confiscate stolen cow used in lobola negotiations
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Police in KwaZulu-Natal put a damper on lobola negotiations on Monday when they confiscated a stolen cow from a kraal in the Makhukhula area, in northern parts of the province.
This comes after the Zululand Multi-District Stock Theft Task Team followed up on tipoff over the weekend.
Provincial police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says a stray cow was positively identified by the owner as the one that was stolen over the weekend.
Further investigations uncovered more.
"The team proceeded to another homestead where a cattle and a calf was found at the same area," said Gwala.
"During the investigation, it was established that the cattle was brought in March 2019 at the homestead as lobola for their daughter."
The cow and two-month-old calf seized by police were also positively identified by the lawful owner.
Investigations are still ongoing.
