KZN police arrest man after R15m drug bust
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Police have arrested a man in connection with approximately 60 kilograms of crystal meth with a street value of R15 million that was seized at Durban Harbour on Monday.
The 37-year-old man was arrested in Auckland Park, Johannesburg yesterday, following an undercover operation.
The drugs, commonly known as tik, were discovered during a joint intelligence-driven operation at the Durban Container Terminal.
The Hawks' Simphiwe Mhongo says the man is expected to appear at the Durban Magistrate's Court on Monday.
"The charges he going to face relate to drug trafficking because we never did find him in possession of the drugs, however he is responsible for the cargo being transported," he said.
"However in court it will be clear what other charges he is facing [are]," Mhlongo said.
