KZN pensioner wins eye watering R100m in PowerBall jackpot
Updated | By Newswatch
The KwaZulu-Natal winner of last week Tuesday's National Lottery PowerBall jackpot draw has finally come forward to claim his whopping R100 million win.
The 72-year old pensioner says he could not believe his win.
He purchased the R7.50 winning ticket in Margate, on the south coast.
"I had been playing for almost 14 years now, every Tuesday and Friday, the most I would win was between R30 to R60," he said in a statement.
The former engineer has kept it all under wraps and only told his daughter of his massive victory.
"I told her to keep it quiet.”
Ithuba said the winner would undergo financial advisory through his private banker.
Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza has welcomed the winner into "the millionaires’ circle”.
"At last the prize had been claimed, and we thank our player for coming forward. While the pensioner has been playing for 14 years, you never know when it will be your turn to win, so keep Phanda, Pusha, Playing. Congratulations to our winner."
"The winning numbers for PowerBall were: 08, 09, 36, 42, 50 and the Bonus PowerBall 04," Ithuba said.
