'KZN not yet out of the drought situation'

Water and sanitation departments have met in Durban to share their drought intervention strategies.

Government has spent over R500-million on emergency interventions in KZN alone.
KZN experienced drought conditions as early as 2014, with Hazelmere Dam dropping to a dangerously low 25% last year.

Many municipalities are currently experiencing water restrictions.
Provincial Head for the Water and Sanitation department in KZN Ashley Starkey says other provinces, including Limpopo, Free State, Northern Cape and Mpumalanga have also felt the effects of the drought. He says that's what's brought them to share insights over the past two days.
