KZN municipal official accused of siphoning R4 million
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
An Abaqulusi municipal official accused of siphoning almost R4 million from municipal coffers has been taken in for questioning by police.

The local municipality opened a case after it couldn't locate the missing funds.
Abaqulusi needed to make a payment to Eskom. It alleges the official changed the recipient's bank details in December.
KZN Department for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs spokesperson, Senzo Mzila says the official apparently then instructed the bank to go ahead with the payment.
"Through this exercise, R2.5 million was recovered from the said official's account," he says.
