KZN Education MEC Peggy Nkonyeni says it's sad that some Grade 12 pupils never got the chance to write their final exams this year because of violence.

She feels violence leading to the death of children seems to stem from communities and often ends in feuds at schools.
Nkonyeni made the comment during a visit to four schools in the Pinetown District as matrics sat down for their English paper yesterday.
"We are actually condemning all social ills that are happening in our communities like violence and killing taking place in our schools. We lost a number of kids through violence that is happening in our school.
"We wish to convey our deepest condolences to the families of all our learners who passed on during this academic year,"she said.
Pupils write accounting this morning and home language papers this afternoon.
