KZN mayor among three arrested over murder plot
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
A KZN mayor has been arrested in a pre-dawn raid - for allegedly plotting to kill a council speaker.
The Hawks say the 31-year-old mayor of the Endumeni Local Municipality in northern KZN was taken into custody along with two other people.
The other two suspects are said to be a councillor as well as the person who would've pulled the trigger.
They allegedly wanted the council speaker out of the way as she'd been blocking the irregular awarding of a tender.

The Hawks say the Political Task Team and the National Intervention Unit swooped in on the trio after receiving information on the alleged assassination plot.
The three are currently appearing in the Estcourt Magistrates’ Court facing - among others - a charge of conspiracy to murder.
