KZN matric markers, Grade R teachers yet to be paid
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Teachers' union SADTU is up in arms over the Department of Education's alleged failure to pay salary increases to grade R teachers and matric exam markers.
The union is also accusing the department of appointing a legal services director without following proper procedures.
SADTU KZN's Nomarashiya Caluza says the department committed itself to the increases after a negotiation process was successfully concluded.

She says the teachers are angry and frustrated because of the department's failure to abide by the agreement.
KZN Education spokesperson Muzi Mhlambi says they are working on the payments.
''We are currently looking into the matter as the department, we have not forgotten. We might not have met the deadline (before Christmas) as promised but it's a matter that's in the pipeline,'' he said.
