KZN man sentenced to 60 years for rape

A KwaZulu-Natal man has begun serving an effective 60 year sentence after he was found guilty on five counts of rape.

The 38-year-old was linked to incidents over a period of a year from October 2014.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says Mathe targeted teenagers between the ages of 14 and 16 in areas including Dundee andVryheid, in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Cases were investigated by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit detectives from Dundee, Vryheid and Ladysmith.
The accused was sentenced to a total of 60 years - 10 years for each count in four rapes, and 20 years for the fifth count.
Each of the 10 years will run concurrently, the 20-year sentence will not run concurrently with the other sentences.
