The man is alleged to have stabbed the 22-year-old woman to death and hiding her body under his bed.

Mbali Myeza's body was found by a relative of the suspect on Monday.

After being on the run he apparently phoned home to tell his family where to find the body.

The family says the couple had been dating for only two months.

Myeza's aunt Nomusa says her five-year-old son has been told about her death and that her one-year-old child is still too young to understand.

''He's shown he's fearful, he didn't hand himself over to police because he's sorry, he feared for his own life. I'm expecting the court to sentence him to life because he doesn't deserve to live with other people. He must be with other people like him because if he's not behind bars other women are not safe,'' she said.

Police say the suspect will be appearing in Nsimbini  Magistrate's Court soon.
