A South Coast man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape of a disabled girl.

It's understood that the child was on her way home from the shop when he accosted and raped her in the Hibberdene area in 2019.
The NPA's Natasha Kara says the child reported what had happened to her mother and the police were called.
"Since the man was unknown to them, he was not arrested immediately. However, he was arrested in another matter two years later, and the DNA swabs taken there, positively linked him to the rape of the minor."
