KZN IFP want 'attempted hit' on KwaDukuza councillor probed

The IFP in KwaZulu-Natal has called on the police to leave no stone unturned in finding the culprits who tried to kill a KwaDukuza councillor yesterday.

Police say Aubrey Baardman came under fire while travelling with his wife and two children - along the N2 near the north coast town.
The councillor was wounded in the shooting but managed to drive his family to safety.
Police are investigating several counts of attempted murder.
The IFP's Blessed Gwala believes it was an attempted hit on Baardman - adding the attack put his family's lives in danger.

He has called on the government to step up efforts eradicate illegal firearms in the country.
"It is important that these guns that are all over the place need to be retrieved by the government. If police do not try and collect all these illegal firearms - then we are in big trouble as a country and as a province. Then we are in big trouble as a country and as a province," Gwala said.
