The province is honoured to host the world's greatest industry gathering of the travel and tourism industry.
The Tourism Indaba got underway in Durban this morning and will, among other things, feature trade shows boasting a variety of tourism products.
CEO of the The Tourism Business Council of South Africa, Mmatšatši Ramawela, says many countries are not yet looking to this country as a tourism destination.
"Over the years we have been growing our presence in the global space in order for people to see us beyond the bad news that comes out of this continent," he said.
"We are a continent with a lot of exciting opportunities where people can always come to have a holiday. This is what the Indaba is about. It is about showcasing the African product," Ramawela said.
