KZN hit by Brucella outbreak

There's an outbreak of Brucella in KwaZulu-Natal.
This is according to the KZN Agriculture Department - which says over four hundred cows have tested positive in northern KZN.
The department says the bacterial disease causes miscarriages, infertility, reduced milk production and weak joints in livestock and humans.
It says a report by veterinary service investigators - shows a spike in the number of cases from last year's 139 to 423 this year.
Authorities have attributed this to the low number of private vets, lack of resources and non-compliance.
The department says it's worried these infections might lead to reproduction and nutrition issues - and cause economic devastation.
Officials say a vaccination drive has started to try and contain the spread of the disease.
