KZN Health MEC urges patience from protesting jobless doctors
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
KwaZulu-Natal's Health MEC says her department will be advertising posts soon and has pleaded with frustrated unemployed doctors to hang in there.
A group of young medical professionals staged a sit-in at the department's offices in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday.
They are accusing the government of not honouring its promise to place them by the 1st of April.
MEC Nomagugu Simelane held a briefing on the issue in Mayville on Wednesday afternoon.

She says a meeting was held today between the Head of Department, Sandile Tshabalala, and some of the doctors, and an agreement was reached.
"I firstly want to accept and appreciate the fact that in the Department of Health we do have vacancies that have not been filled. Now those vacancies are available, those vacancies are almost in all our facilities. Unfortunately as a department and as a province, because of the different budgetary constraints that we face, we are unable fill all our posts at the level that we wish to actually fill them."
