KZN Health budget allocation to boost fight against HIV/AIDS
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Health has been the second biggest recipient of the provincial budget, after Education.
Finance MEC, Belinda Scott delivered her 2015/2017 provincial budget in Pietermaritzburg yesterday where she announced a R36.58-Billion allocation.
This is an increase from 32.4% in the last financial year to 33.6% of the total provincial budget.
Scott says the health sector provides services to 87% of the uninsured provincial population and some of the money will go towards improving healthcare in the province.
"The main services rendered at PHC level include the comprehensive management of HIV and AIDS as well the provision of clinic including mobiles and hospital care at a district level.
"The department also provides hospital care at a general, tertiary and central level for patients whose levels of care require more specialised services," she said.
