Hawks officials in KwaZulu-Natal say the increase in kidnappings in the province is alarming.
Spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo's been sharing their concerns about emerging crime trends.
He's been speaking after two suspects in a kidnapping case in Cato Manor were remanded in custody this week.
Police rescued a 33-year-old man held for six days.

Mhlongo says they have teamed up with other crime-fighting agencies to crack down on emerging kidnapping trends.
"We have been dealing with a Pietermaritzburg one where a 17-year-old was taken and another in Kranskop.
"It is indeed a concern. However, Hawks members, together with other law enforcement agencies, are working very hard to curb these types of crimes in our province. "
