KZN Hawks boss suspended yet again
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
The KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Johan Booysen has yet again been suspended.
Booysen is accused of submitting fraudulent documents to claim performance bonuses for tracking down wanted suspects.
The Major-General has had a previous suspension declared invalid, after being accused of running a 'death squad', consisting of members of the disbanded Cato Manor Organised Crime Unit.
He also had racketeering charges against him withdrawn last year. Booysen has in the past claimed there are efforts to sideline him because of investigations into a Durban businessman, who is a business partner of one of President Jacob Zuma's sons.
Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi has confirmed the suspension was served on Booysen yesterday; and that this matter is between Booysen and his employer.
''There are procedures as well to ensure that we stabilise the province, by bringing someone to act [as the Hawks head] in the mean time.
''The processes as you would know, will take some time but we are making sure that the matter is dealt with accordingly as soon as possible,'' he said.
