KZN happy with feeding scheme progress
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
KZN Education says it's satisfied with the progress made so far to get food back on learners' plates under the National School Nutrition Programme.
Pupils at more than 5 000 schools went hungry last month when Pacina Retail, the main supplier, failed to deliver meals.
The Basic Education Minister admitted in La Mercy recently that the school feeding scheme has been dealing with historic problems in other parts of the country.
The provincial department's Muzi Mahlambi says there were some minor issues when pupils started receiving their meals again this week.

"We are monitoring the situation, we are aware of some glitches from not getting food at all and having not enough for the whole month, to having delays but today we can confirm we do not experience much of technical problems."
Meanwhile, the DA's Baxolile Nodada says the department needs to be honest about the crisis.
"It is worrying the bot the national and provincial departments failed to mention that these schools are still without food despite their widespread oversight this week in the province."
