Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A KwaZulu-Natal farmer is recovering following leg surgery after being bitten by a pig while working in the Karkloof area in the Midlands.
The man - believed to be in his 50s - had been feeding the pigs when one of them came from behind and bit him yesterday afternoon.
Midlands EMS Derrick Banks says the farmer sustained deep cuts to his right knee.
"He had sustained quite a serious injury to the back of his leg and was bleeding profusely. Advanced life support intervention was performed on the farmer before he was taken through to hospital," said Banks.
Emergency services met him en route to hospital.
