KZN farm workers to have grievances prioritised
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
Premier Sihle Zikalala has condemned the ill-treatment of farm workers by employers.

During his visit to Normandien in Newcastle yesterday, workers claimed they were underpaid yet overworked.
Yesterday Zikalala led a delegation accompanied by Agriculture MEC Bongi Sithole Moloi to discuss a way forward in the region which has been plagued with a number of issues in recent months.
Last month farming couple of Glen and Vida Rafferty were gunned down on their Normandien property.

Zikalala urged workers to report cases of harassment and said that government would ensure that the department of Community Safety and Liaison prioritizes farm workers.
"It's important that we start an engagement with farmers on how to treat workers and to ensure that conditions of employment are followed accordingly", he said.
"We need to also deal with issue of harassment because that needs stop as well as the issue of racism. I think it has a great influence", Zikalala said.
