KZN Education warns of fraudulent matric certificates
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education says it's confident that all matric certificates issued this year will be legitimate.
A matric certificate scam has been making rounds on social media this week, which promises to provide certificates for R1 500.
The scammers claim to work for the department and could even write tests on behalf of dropouts.

Education spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says they are not concerned as Umalusi is the only quality assurer credited with issuing the certificates.
"Any certificate that is not sanctioned by Umalusi will not be recognised in any institution, and we are appealing to our communities not to go around and entertain those people who are saying that they can manufacture certificates for them because they will be in trouble themselves."
"If they are in possession of such certificates, they will be arrested, together with the people producing those certificates," he said.
Learners and parents are notified that all matric certificates will only be issued out at schools.
