KZN education sector flagged as corruption hotspot - Corruption Watch

KwaZulu-Natal has been flagged as one of the corruption hotspots in the education sector.

A new report by Corruption Watch has revealed persistent graft in the sector.
Campaign coordinator Mzwandile Banjathwa says the report deals with complaints the organisation received over nine years.

Most were from KZN, Gauteng and the Eastern Cape.
"Since 2012 until to date, we have received well over 3 600 whistleblower complaints relating to the education sector and of those, they speak to corruption in Basic Education, and they also speak of corruption in Higher Education.
"Now, we have released a report on corruption in Basic Education in 2015 and we have done investigations in schools. These are schools that were implicated for corruption on a variety of issues."
