KZN Education opens fraud case following fake job advert
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Education officials in King Cetshwayo District are warning unemployed teachers about a job scam doing the rounds.
A number of job seekers have already been conned out of R3000 each by the online fraudster.
The culprit's been posing as education's district director, David Ngcongo, issuing statements on behalf of his office.
Messages are circulated via WhatsApp and Facebook and desperate job seekers are asked to pay R3000 into a bank account to secure a position within the department.
Ngcongo says they've opened up a case of fraud adding that police are closing in on the scammer.

"We don't sell posts in the Department of Education. You apply to the department and get appointed by the department. We don't advertise posts over WhatsApp or email.
"We know that people are desperate but we are making a plea to people - don't pay that money," Ngcongo said.
