Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
The 2017 matric final exams are just over two weeks away and the province's education officials say everything's in place.
The Education Department's Kwazi Mthethwa says they believe they are on track to achieving their goal of a 76% pass rate after a series of poor results.
"We have been able to assist our learners with study material and with revision so we can confirm to the whole province that we are now ready," he says.
Around 155 000 matrics are expected to sit for the exams.
The first major exam will be English Paper One on the 24th of this month.
Meanwhile, Correctional Services Singabakho Nxumalo says 211 inmates in KZN will also be sitting for the National Senior Certificate exams.
"We have arranged additional assistance to focus on problematic subjects such as Mathematics and English and as a department we are more then confident that everything is in order in terms of having resident invigilators and visits by the Department of Basic Education," he says.
