The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal says it’s confident the class of 2023 will surpass last year's matric pass rate.
The department says everything is set for the National Senior Certificate exams starting on Monday.
Over 193,000 full-time and part-time KZN candidates will sit for the exams.
It's the largest group in the country.

At a briefing in La Mercy on the north coast on Thursday, MEC Mbali Frazer said she hoped the provincial academic improvement plan implemented early this year would yield a two per cent improvement on last year's pass rate of 83%.
"Much as we started this academic year in a celebratory mood, we understood that as a province, we needed to work twice as hard to surpass our own success."
KZN Education says the province will print 120 question papers totalling 30 million prints.
Head of Department Nkosinathi Ngcobo says they have beefed up security to prevent leaks, with private security roped in to monitor the printing and the movement of the exam papers.
