KZN Edu visits affected marking centres following death of markers

KZN Department of Education says it believes current measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 across marking centres in the province are adequate.
Yesterday provincial Education authorities visited the two marking centre's in the province following the death of two markers.
The affected centres are Inanda Seminary in eThekwini where one marker died while another was at a marking centre in Estcourt under the uThukela District.
Following requests by teacher unions for rapid testing to be conducted in the province, the department's Spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says rapid testing has started in most marking centres.

He says today will continue to visit more centres in Newcastle and Glencore to monitor the situation.
" It became more important that the centres being visited was well to prepared to pass condolences to the fellow colleagues of the educators.
All necessary precautions and measures have been put in place in terms of screening, rapid testing and isolation in case there is a need for it."
