KZN Edu launch probe following Grade R learner burnt at school
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Provincial education officials are investigating whether there was gross negligence on the part of school officials after a five-year-old child was burnt and injured at a south Durban school.

The department says the Grade R learner at the Andrew Zondo Primary School had asked to go to the bathroom when the incident happened on Friday.
At the time, refuse was being burnt on the school property.
Education spokesperson, Muzi Mahlambi says teachers began to worry when the child didn't return.
Mahlambi says they heard screams from outside and rushed to find the child had been burned.

Mahlambi says they've also been told the child was sent to a clinic without his parents being informed.
