The N3 Toll Concession's Andy Visser says over the past three days the roads have been relatively quiet, with normal traffic patterns.

He says however they are expecting an influx of holiday travellers at the Mooi River Toll Plaza from around noon tomorrow.

Meanwhile, KwaZulu-Natal Tourism's Philip Sithole says the arrival of holidaymakers means a number of things for the province, particularly Durban.

"It confirms that Durban/KZN remains the number one domestic tourist attraction. Number two - by getting more people coming to the city and the province, the economic spend of those people is going to be enjoyed by local businesses. Thirdly, it's about job creation. We need more numbers of people coming to this province and this city," he said.

On Saturday alone, over 2 000 vehicles per hour were recorded at the Mooi River Toll Plaza.
